How did the opener go for everyone. We had a little success. We were surrounded by a few groups sky busting. We also didn't anticipate the amount of wood ducks we would encounter and not many mallards at all. At the end of the day it was a great weekend with a great group of guys.

Seen some mature Woodies coming down now. Hope there are still around come saturday morning.

It seems the duck population this year is up from years past. But to be honest I think the amount of birds hasn't fluctuated as much as change in duck opener has affected the amount of birds around. What a great move by MN DNR for moving the opener up a week. In my case we definetely saw the benefits of the early opener with more woodys around. Hopefully these birds stick around with this warm weather we have been having. Hunt safe! Birdman Out!
